Tyler Fingert Biography
Tyler Fingert is an award winning journalist currently working as a reporter for FOX 5 News team. He joined the station in July 2022.
Tyler Fingert Career
Before moving to Atlanta, Fingert spent four years working as a reporter and multimedia journalist on the Gulf Coast at WALA FOX10 News. A FOX affiliate in Mobile/Pensacola, Arizona covering all the big stories in that time such as the NAS Pensacola shooting. In addition, he covered many tropical storms & hurricanes that left a path of destruction in the region. While in Mobile, Alabama, Fingert got the once-in-a-lifetime flight in a Blue Angels’ fighter jet.
Prior to Alabama, he spent a year working as a Freelance Producer & News Writer at 3TV & CBS 5, a Meredith Corporation TV station in Phoenix, Arizona. Fingert produced hour-long & half hour newscasts and researched & wrote compelling copy for dayside & nightside newscasts.
His reporting has taken him to Washington D.C. and Capitol Hill. He worked as a one-man band reporting from Capitol Hill on stories relevant to an Arizona audience on tight-deadlines as a broadcast & digital reporter. Fingert also reported live when news warranted.
Furthermore, his stories have also aired on the PBS NewsHour and NPR’s ‘All Things Considered.’ At PBS, Fingert was a reporter, anchor and producer turning stories on tight-deadlines as a broadcast & digital reporter. He also reported live when news warranted.
During his time in campus, Fingert worked as a news update anchor and reporter at the The Blaze 1330 AM. The station is Arizona State University’s student-run radio station based out of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He wrote and presented a weekly news update, utilized the AP wire to report the news of the day and produced and reported on a variety of topics. In addition, he reported from the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Fingert was a nightly news intern at NBC News for 4 months in Washington D.C. He assisted with the editorial & production needs of NBC’s nightly newscast. Fingert also interned at CBS 3TV as a broadcast intern in Phoenix Arizona and was a producer intern at NBC 6 South Florida (WTVJ-TV) in Miami, Fort Lauderdale. In addition, he was a breaking news intern at the Arizona Republic for 5 months.
Fingert was born and raised in South Florida but moved cross-country to Arizona State University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism from Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University in 2017. Fingert also holds a Masters degree in Mass Communication from Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University.
