Scott Budman is an Emmy Award-winning journalist currently working as a reporter on business and technology for NBC Bay Area. His stories can be viewed on the stations evening newscasts. He joined the station in April 1995.
Scott Budman Career
Budman was born and raised in Oakland, California. He started his broadcasting career in radio as a business reporter for KMNY radio in Anaheim, California. In addition, Budman then moved to Orange County News Channel as a general assignment reporter and business anchor/ producer for one year. Prior to joining NBC Bay Area, he worked at KEYT (ABC) in Santa Barbara, California as a reporter and weekend anchor for two years.
Budman is a recipient of many awards such as the national Iris Award for a documentary about gays in the military. Furthermore, he has also received Golden Mike Awards from the Southern California Radio and Television News Directors Association.
Budman is the go to voice for breaking news in business and technology in Silicon Valley. He can frequently be heard on Bay Area radio waves updating listeners on the latest business and tech news on NPR and Alice Radio. In addition, Budman is a regular blogger for Forbes as well as numerous other online publications.
Besides his busy schedule at NBC Bay Area, he is also a long time volunteer with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Santa Clara County. In addition, Budman volunteers for the Hip-hop chess federation which offers alternatives to the at risk youth at schools like the he attended in Oakland. He also supports the Second Harvest Food Bank.
