Rob Marciano Biography

Rob Marciano is a meteorologist currently working as the CBS News national weather correspondent since October 2024. His reports feature on CBS News and Stations’ broadcast and digital platforms.

Rob Marciano Career

Marciano joined CBS News and Stations in October 2024 and has been integral to the division’s coverage of major events like Hurricane Milton in Florida. In addition, he covered the significant snowfall that crippled parts of western New York State, and a West Coast bomb cyclone that caused heavy flooding in California.

In his career, he has covered nearly every major natural disaster experienced in the United States, including floods, tornadoes, blizzards, and erupting volcanos in Hawaii.

Prior to joining CBS News and Stations, Marciano was the senior meteorologist at ABC’s “World News Tonight” and the weekend editions of “Good Morning America.” He further worked with Ginger Zee and the Extreme Weather Team for weather coverage across all ABC News broadcasts and platforms. His final co-hosting of Entertainment Tonight was Wednesday, 27 August, 2014 and he debuted on Good Morning America on Saturday, 6 September, 2014. On 30 April, 2024, his employment at ABC News ended after what news reports called “anger management issues” and “allegedly inappropriate behaviors.”

Before ABC, he was co-host of “Entertainment Tonight,” reporting on and interviewing hundreds of celebrities, including hour-long specials on Jennifer Lopez and Katy Perry. Additionally, Marciano co-anchored the nightly 30-minute edition of the program as well as the 60-minute weekend edition.

Earlier on, Marciano worked at CNN from 2003 to 2012 as a weather anchor and worked across the organization as a field correspondent. At CNN, he covered such stories as Hurricane Katrina and the BP oil spill, which earned a Peabody Award. Furthermore, Marciano also hosted primetime specials such as “Rescue: Saving The Gulf,” focusing on the people who saved wildlife, skimmed oil from the ocean, and cleaned beaches following the BP spill.

Prior to CNN, Marciano was the chief meteorologist at KATU-TV in Portland, Oregon (1997-2003) and KPLC-TV in Lake Charlies, Louisiana (1994-1997).

He was born and raised in Glenville, Connecticut and is of Italian and German ancestry. Marciano graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology from Cornell University and holds the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval as a certified broadcast meteorologist. He is a doting dad to his two children, a science guy, sports fan, and outside enthusiast.
