Omari Fleming Career
Fleming has lived all over the country pursuing his passion for journalism. He was born and raised in Los Angeles and is thrilled to be back in Southern California reporting for NBC 7.
Prior to joining the NBC 7 news team Fleming was an anchor and reporter for Fox Philadelphia. In the two years he was at the station, he covered local issues and was also the affiliate reporter for multiple national stories. Such as Jerry Sandusky scandal, Hurricane Sandy and the tragic Sandy Hook school shooting.
Fleming is a graduate of Hampton University’s Mass Media Arts Department, Virginia. In addition, he pursues a Master’s Degree at the University of Missouri Columbia.
After Missouri, he began his journalism career at WAPT, the ABC affiliate in Jackson, Missouri. Fleming worked as an anchor and reporter for three years then moved to WREG, a CBS affiliate in Memphis. At the station, he covered corruption, politics and crime as the weekend anchor and reporter.
Fleming enjoys living Downtown and spending free time at the beach rollerblading. He also loves heading to the local mountains to ski and snowboard.
