Mike Hydeck Biography
Mike Hydeck is a skilled journalist currently working as an evening anchor at NBC Connecticut on weekdays at 5, 6 and 11 p.m. He co-anchors alongside co-anchor Keisha Grant and Chief Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan. Hydeck joined the station in October 2017.

Prior to returning to his home state, Hydeck was a morning anchor and reporter at WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C for seven years. Some of the highlights of his career were covering two presidential inaugurations as well as Pope Francis’ address to Congress. In addition, he is an avid golfer and another memorable assignment for Hydeck was a one-on-one interview with Tiger Woods.
Before his time in Washington D.C., Hydeck was a morning anchor at WFSB-TV in Hartford Connecticut for four years. In addition, he also reported from the field. Prior to Connecticut, he spent three years at WBZ-TV Boston, Massachusetts as a news anchor and reporter. Hydeck was a general assignment reporter covering everything from Democratic National Convention, to the wire to wire coverage of the Boston Marathon. In addition, he also enjoyed Field Anchoring Victory Parades for New England Patriot Super bowl Wins and the 2004 Red Sox World Series Championship Parade.

Previous to his time in Boston, Hydeck worked at WLOS-TV in Asheville, North Carolina for four years as an news anchor and reporter. He began his career at WCYB-TV in Bristol, Virginia as a news anchor and reporter for three years. Hydeck worked as an anchor weekend newscasts and reported daily news stories. In addition, he co-produced and wrote newscasts, shot videos, wrote and edited stories. Furthermore, Hydeck was a fill-in weather anchor, fill-in sports anchor, weekend newsroom supervisor and assignment editor.
He proudly graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications – Journalism from the University of Connecticut in Mansfield, Connecticut. In addition, Hydeck went to Masuk High School in Monroe, Connecticut for his high school diploma and college preparation courses. He is excited about being back home, where he and his family make regular trips to Mystic and any destination near the water.
Veterans’ concerns and causes are near and dear to Hydeck’s heart. He is a volunteer with Friends of the National World War II Memorial. Hydeck is also active with the Boy Scouts of America and Rebuilding Together.
Hydeck, his wife Maggie, son and daughter have a goal to visit every National Park in America. They enjoy camping and hiking with their dog Finnegan as their favorite pastimes.
