Melissa Magee Career
Magee brings the greater Southern California community up-to-the minute weather forecasts. She knows well the vast region’s microclimates so provides the most accurate reports to viewers as she grew up in Los Angeles.
Since 2020 when Magee joined NBC4, she has co-hosted the stations “Celebrating Black Excellence,” a 30- minute special in honor of Black History Month. The program examined the evolution of Los Angeles civil rights movement and COVID 19 racial inequality in healthcare. In addition, she brought to the limelight athletes who have taken advocacy roles in Southern California. She is frequently featured in NBC4’s public service announcements that raise awareness of various causes in the region.
Before joining NBC4, She worked as a weekend meteorologist at WPVI-TV in Philadelphia for 11 years. Magee guided viewers through extreme weather conditions while covering wide spectrum of conditions. She also reported on the impact of Superstorm Sandy and its devastation on Philadelphia, Delaware and New Jersey. She showed her journalistic resourcefulness by hosting several entertainment and lifestyle shows at the station.

Her news career began in 2001 at Nebraska ABC affiliate KDUH-TV as a reporter and weekend evening anchor. She joined KBAK-TV later in Bakersfield, California as a reporter, weekend and weather anchor for 4 years. Magee worked as a weather anchor in 2006 at AccuWeather in State College, PA and New York Fox affiliate WNYW-TV in 2008.
Besides meteorology, she enjoys being active in the local community. She volunteers frequently at nonprofit organizations in under-served communities that promote confidence and success in young women.
Magee graduated with a B.A degree in English and a minor in French which she fluently speaks from UCLA. She also has a Broadcast Meteorology Certificate from Mississippi State University.
She lives in Los Angeles, and when not at work she enjoys working-out, hiking, dancing and is a self-confessed foodie.
