Kim Leoffler Biography
Kim Leoffler is a skilled journalist currently working as a reporter and multi media journalist for FOX 5 News team. She joined the station in January 2023.
Kim Leoffler Career
Leoffler was born and raised in Peachtree City and is excited to be back home and have the opportunity to serve the Atlanta community!
Prior to joining FOX 5, she worked as a national weather reporter and multi media journalist for the AccuWeather Network in Atlanta, Georgia for two years. Leoffler traveled the country covering severe weather events and weather related stories. In addition, Leoffler has been on the ground for a number of major storms including the deadly tornadoes in Kentucky in 2021 as well as Hurricanes Ida and Ian. She feels grateful to have met so many remarkable people during these assignments working to help their neighbors start to move forward after unthinkable disasters.
During her time in AccuWeather Network, Leoffler was responsible for story execution from pitch to air. In addition, she shot, wrote, and edited multiple stories on deadline in extreme weather events. Furthermore, Leoffler planned and booked travel for herself and a photographer when she was given an assignment. She used creative judgement to make placement and execution decisions in the field
Before AccuWeather Network, Leoffler spent over three years in Spectrum Bay News 9 in Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida Area as a reporter and multi media journalist. At the station, she developed trusted contacts to break news and enterprise unique stores. Furthermore, Leoffler was trusted as the main reporter covering northern counties and chose to travel to assist sister stations for hurricane coverage. In addition, she shared stories and updates in real time through social media platforms. Leoffler also used creative storytelling to bring live shots and packages to life.
Kim Leoffler FOX 5 Atlanta
Previously, she worked as a reporter and multi media journalist for KLTV in Tyler, Texas for nearly two years. Leoffler shot, wrote and edited multiple news packages on a daily basis and maintained credible sources within the community. She further used sources to enterprise unique stories of interest to viewers and was trusted to be the only nightside reporter for the station. In addition, Leoffler solo operated the LiveU backpack while writing and sending video back to station. She used social media to break stories and drive viewers to newscasts and website and captured engaging video for Friday night football.
Leoffler graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism from the Annenberg School of Journalism at the University of Southern California in 2015. While in school, she had the chance to learn from a number of talented journalists at NY1 in New York City and NBC News in Los Angeles and Atlanta. Furthermore, in school Leoffler worked at the USC Annenberg Media Center for eight months as an Inside the Media Center Correspondent.
In her free time, you’ll catch her tearing up the dance floor in one of the many wonderful dance classes in Atlanta or trying out all the amazing food options in the city.

Leoffler was born and raised in Peachtree City, Georgia. She wished her parents a happy Veterans Day in 2015 as they both gave many years of service in the U.S. Navy. Her parents are just two of the many members of her family who have served. Leoffler thanked her Mom and Dad and all other veterans as they made her so proud!
