Joanne Feldman Biography

Joanne Feldman is an award winning journalist currently working as the FOX 5 Storm Team meteorologist every weekday on Good Day Atlanta! She returned home to join FOX 5 Atlanta in 2007.

Feldman is always ready to help plan your day and has a deep passion for meteorology and the great state of Georgia.

She is an Emmy Award-winning and American Meteorological Society (AMS) Certified Broadcast Meteorologist with the FOX 5 Storm Team. Feldman was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia and is a proud graduate of Lassiter High School.

Feldman studied meteorology and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the University of Georgia. She graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. Feldman then headed to the master’s program in Meteorology at Penn State University on a scholarship from the American Meteorological Society (AMS).

She began her broadcast career when she was one of two graduate students selected to forecast for Penn State’s daily weather magazine, “Weather World”. A show that has a huge following all across the state of Pennsylvania. Feldman then headed to Fresno, California to work at KMPH, and later KFSN, as the weekend meteorologist. She became the news anchor for the station’s top-rated morning show shortly after moving to KFSN. Feldman got a promotion to WTVD in Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina after a couple of years honing both her broadcasting and forecasting skills. She spent five years there as the Chief Meteorologist covering tornado outbreaks, a historic ice storm, and numerous hurricane including the landfall of Hurricane Isabel in 2003.

In Atlanta, Feldman has received three Emmy Awards – one for best weathercaster in the Southeast, and two for specialty reports on weather. Furthermore, she was voted “Favorite Weathercaster in Atlanta” by the readers of Jezebel Magazine in 2011. In addition, Feldman also holds the prestigious Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society. It is the highest designation offered to broadcasters after they have proven scientific competency and passed a rigorous exam.

Moreover, she helped launch the 10 a.m. hour of Good Day Atlanta, where she is a co-host covering the day’s lifestyle and entertainment news in April 2019. In her spare time, while she doesn’t watch Georgia’s skies Feldman is in a ballet class, running, spends time with her husband, Chris, and their two children. In addition, she loves watching any good movie so many times that she knows the lines by heart. Feldman and her family reside in Milton, Georgia.
