Jackie Crea Career
Crea joined NBC 7, San Diego in May 2019, this is a return home to Southern California after 8 years away in Texas and Colorado. This move also brings her career full circle as she started her first internship at NBC 7 in 2008. She also worked as a freelance writer and teleprompter operator.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from University of California San Diego in 2008. In addition, Crea did a study abroad semester in Barcelona, Spain.
She began her journalism career in NBC/CBS duopoly KTSM in El Paso, Texas. Crea reported immigration and military stories that involved travelling with soldiers in a Blackhawk. For immersion training on a stimulated Afghan village. She also covered a visit from President Obama at Fort Bliss.
Crea then landed a job in Houston, Texas at the CBS affiliate KHOU after two years in El Paso. She reported on historic flooding events such as tropical storm Bill. Crea and her photographer were stranded overnight during the 2015 Memorial Day floods. On a highway with thousands of people and continued to do live shots throughout the morning. In addition, she covered high profile legal cases and also reported during the Super Bowl and Houston’s year long preparation.
Crea worked as a reporter and anchor for KHOU before moving to KMGH the ABC affiliate in Denver, Colorado. She covered severe weather, wildfires and enjoyed the beautiful outdoors. Crea was part of a team that received a National Murrow award for overall news excellence.
She was born and raised in Los Angeles, California while her husband was born and raised in San Diego, California. They are very happy to be close to family again.
