Ian Cull Biography
Ian Cull is an award winning journalist currently working as a reporter on NBC Bay Area evening newscasts. He joined the station in June 2014.
Ian Cull Career
Before joining NBC Bay Area, Cull spent five years Washington as a “one man band”, shooting, writing, voicing and editing everyday on his own. He worked as a News reporter and content creator at KXLY-TV, Spokane, Washington for two and a half years. At the station, Cull produced, wrote, and delivered one to two daily on-air reports for multiple TV newscasts. In addition, he shot and edited videos, reported live and pre-recorded stories for KXLY Newsradio 920.
Prior to KXLY-TV, Cull worked at KAPP-TV, Yakima, Washington for one and a half years as a News reporter and multimedia journalist. He produced three stories daily and delivered them on one to eight-hour deadlines. In addition, Cull shot, wrote, and edited all stories as a one-man-band video journalist. Furthermore, some of his stories featured on Good Morning America, ABCnews.com, and The Daily Buzz.
He began his career as a news and sports reporter at KCSG-TV, St George, Utah for one year. Cull produced two news and sports stories daily as a one-man-band video journalist for television and anchored live Friday night sports show. In addition, he maintained contacts in Southern Utah and uploaded videos and wrote stories for website. Cull worked as a news intern at KXLY-TV, Spokane, Washington and also interned at TEGNA (formerly Gannett), Greater Seattle area as a KING 5 Sports Intern.

He proudly graduated with a degree in Broadcast Media from Gonzaga University in 2008.
Cull has covered a wide range of stories in the Bay Area. He has reported live on historic wild fires and covered the first COVID-19 cases in the United States of America. Cull was in the field for the San Jose Sharks’ push to the Stanley Cup Final. In addition, he broke the story that gathered world wide attention when a woman accidentally recycled an Apple one computer worth $200,000.
Cull was part of the NBC team that received a national Society of Professional Journalists Award for public service in journalism. They also won the American Legion’s ‘Fourth Estate Award.’
Cull is married and is a father to two children. He was born in Central Valley, California but raised in Washington State. Cull is happy to be back to California .
In his spare time, he enjoys bodyboarding, fly fishing, playing pick up soccer, being a dad and cheering his kids at their sporting events.
