Heidi Voight Biography

Heidi Voight is an award winning journalist currently working as a news anchor and reporter for NBC Connecticut on weekday mornings from 5 to 7 a.m. She anchors NBC Connecticut Today alongside co-anchor Shannon Miller and meteorologist Bob Maxon. Voight joined the station on July 2014.

Voight was born and raised in Milford, Connecticut. She brings her insight as a proud Connecticut native to her coverage of major news events across New England. 

Voight was the first reporter live on the scene in the south end of Springfield, Massachusetts minutes after the deadly EF3 tornado on 1 June, 2011. The coverage contributed to an Emmy award-winning newscast. In addition, she was recognized with six awards from the Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists. For her reporting on varying issues such as a series profiling fallen law enforcement officers. Voight got recognition for her investigation into state and federal funding of Connecticut’s highway service patrol fleet. 

She is a firm believer that journalism can and should make the world a better place. Voight also uses her platform to advance numerous charitable causes and uncover compelling human interest stories. Furthermore, she was inducted into the Gertrude O. Lewis Humanitarian Society in 2016, the highest honor bestowed by the Connecticut Humane Society. In addition, Voight was named one of Connecticut Magazine’s “40 Under 40”.

Prior to joining NBC Connecticut, she worked in several roles such as a server in Union League Cafe for six years in New Haven, Connecticut while attending college full time. In addition, Voight represented our state at the Miss America Pageant as Miss Connecticut 2006 for one whole year. She also spent a full year as a flight attendant in Eos Airlines. Voight then became a Policy Aide & Media relations for speaker of the Connecticut General Assembly James Amann for a year. In addition, she was a general manager for Bar Bouchee, Madison, Connecticut for ten months.

Voight began her journalism career in WWLP 22News (NBC), Springfield, Massachusetts as a multimedia journalist for almost two years. She also spent one year as a Public Affairs Officer at Connecticut Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day. In addition, Voight was a Director of Communications at Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation in Bloomfield, Connecticut for two years. Finally, she joined NBC Connecticut as a freelance reporter in July 2014.

She was born and raised in Milford, the “Small City with a Big Heart” on Connecticut’s beautiful shoreline. Her greatest joy in life is being a mother, Voight and her husband, David, welcomed their identical twin girls Apolonia “Polly” Rose and Violet Concetta on Mother’s Day 2018. She graduated with Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities from Southern Connecticut State University. In addition, Voight represented our state at the Miss America Pageant as Miss Connecticut 2006.

Voight tied the knot with her husband David Borselle Jr. in 2016. David is a chef and owned Park & Oak restaurant that closed down during the COVID 19 pandemic.
