Greg Dawson Biography
Greg Dawson is the Vice President of News of NBC 7 San Diego and Telemundo 20. He joined the station as a producer in September 1989 and was promoted to Assistant News director in February 1998. In July 2002, Dawson became the Vice President of News.

For several years, Dawson produced almost every newscast at the station and covered countless local stories as a field producer.
His work as a special projects producer has taken him across the country and around the world. He has covered diverse stories such as the war in Bosnia to the Guam brown tree snake invasion. Dawson is a recipient of ten regional Emmy awards, two Golden Mic awards and multiple other local honors.
Before coming to San Diego, he was a producer at KOLD-TV in Tucson, Arizona for nine months. In addition, Dawson worked as a producer at KOBI-TV NBC5 in Medford, Oregon for about one year. He started his career at KCBS-TV in Los Angeles, California as a producer and writer in 1985.
He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Southern California in 1985. Dawson also attended California State University and studied Communication and Media Studies in 1983. He was also a student at California State University, Chico in 1980-1981.
While he is not at work, he enjoys cycling, hiking and travelling as he spends time with his family. Dawson is also a very active father in his three daughters lives and attends all their school activities.
