Enrique Acevedo Biography

Enrique Acevedo is an award winning journalist currently working as a correspondent for CBS News reporting across multiple broadcasts and platforms. He joined the station in January 2020. Acevedo is also an anchor and managing editor for N+ (N Más) in Mexico City, Mexico since January 2023. He anchors Televisa’s flagship newscast En punto.

He is a recipient of an Emmy award and has reported major news stories around the globe in English and Spanish for print, broadcast and online media. Acevedo covered the COVID-19 pandemic’s toll on the U.S.-Mexico border, three U.S. presidential elections, the 2012 earthquake and tsunami in Japan. In addition, he covered the humanitarian crisis in Haiti, the AIDS epidemic in Africa, the drug wars in Mexico, and the impact of Climate Change across Latin America. Acevedo has further interviewed many world leaders such as President Barack Obama, Kofi Annan, Melinda Gates, Juan Manuel Santos and Desmond Tutu, among others.

Furthermore, he named “The Voice” of the Latino community by the Huffington Post and a “Global Media Leader” by the World Economic Forum. Acevedo initially joined CBS News as a correspondent for 60 Minutes, the streaming edition of CBS News’ iconic newsmagazine 60 Minutes on Paramount. Additionally, he is Member, Board of Directors for The News Literacy Project from January 2021. Acevedo was a teaching fellow at the Institute of Politics University of Chicago in Illinois, Chicago for nine months.

Caroll Journalist Fellow Award for his contributions to journalism in the public interest and to news literacy. Acevedo was also one of the youngest recipients of the national journalism prize awarded by Mexico’s press club.

In 2016, during the presidential cycle, he co-moderated the station’s Democratic Debate and led the network’s electoral coverage alongside Maria Elena Salinas and Jorge Ramos.

Furthermore on 9 November 2023, Acevedo was brought in by TelevisaUnivision executives to interview former President Donald Trump from his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. The interview, “Donald Trump: La Entrevista”, was aired the day after the third Republican primary debate, in which Trump did not participate and instead held a rally in Hialeah, Florida. The interview was simulcast throughout the U.S. on Univision in Spanish and its sister channel UNIMAS and on Vix’s news channel, Noticias Univision 24/7, in English with Spanish subtitles. Trump spoke to Acevedo about his plans for the future, his legal troubles, and the state of the nation, among other topics.

He began his journalism career as an anchor and special correspondent for Grupo Televisa in Mexico for over two years. Acevedo was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Relations and Affairs from Tecnologico De Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico.
