David Biggar Career

Biggar excels in delivering the most precise weather conditions to viewers by using the latest technology and tools including augmented reality and the station’s mobile weather vehicles, the NBC4x4Caster and StormRanger4. Besides his regular forecasts, he also researches and prepares in-depth segments on weather phenomena, science, and aviation.

After joining NBC4, he has also reported live for CNBC, delivering breaking ongoing coverage of Hurricane Irma in 2017 and Hurricane Dorian in 2019.  

Biggar has been ardent about meteorology from when he was young and carries an inborn passion for presenting weather conditions for Southern California. He has reported on crucial incidents like East Coast blizzards and trailed tornadoes in Oklahoma.

He started his career as an intern at KCRA in Sacramento and he advanced quickly from building graphics to anchoring the weekday noon and weekend morning newscasts. While at KCRA, he earned an Emmy award for anchoring the station’s weather.

Biggar has earned industry acceptance and was a member of NBC4 Weather group that won a Los Angeles Emmy Award for the station’s special, “El Nino: Currents of Change” in 2015.  He also earned two awards from the Associated Press Television and Radio Association for “Best Weathercast” and “Best Weather Reporting,” as well as two RTNA Golden Mike awards. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Science from University of California at Davis and is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist.

In addition to reporting weather conditions, Biggar is a licensed pilot and licensed race car driver. He delights in flying planes and also follows all forms of racing, from NASCAR to Formula 1.
