David Agus, M.D. Biography
David B. Agus, M.D. is an award winning medical doctor currently also working as a CBS News contributor, reporting on a broad range of medical topics for the division’s broadcasts. He joined the station in May 2013 and has more than two decades of experience in science and medicine.

In addition, Dr. Agus is a professor of medicine and engineering at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine and the Viterbi School of Engineering. He is also the founding director and CEO of the Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine at USC.
Dr. Agus has had a long and varied career. He leads a team researching prevention and treatments for cancer at the Lawrence J. Ellison Institute of Technology. Agus also maintains an oncology practice to apply his team’s research discoveries to the patients under his care. In addition, he was an attending physician at the Memorial Sloan- Kettering Cancer Center in New York in the Department of Medical Oncology and head of the Laboratory of Tumor Biology. Dr. Agus was also an assistant professor of medicine at Cornell University Medical Center.
Furthermore, Dr. Agus is an international pioneer in biomedical research and healthcare technologies, and he’s considered one of the world’s leading physicians. He’s also the New York Times and international best-selling author of “The End of Illness,” “A Short Guide to a Long Life,” and “The Lucky Years: How to Thrive in the Brave New World of Health.”
In addition, Dr. Agus has been a recipient of multiple awards and honors including the 2009 Geoffrey Beene Foundation’s Rock Stars of Science Award as seen in GQ. He also received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2017, American Cancer Society Physician Research Award and a Clinical Scholar Award from the Sloan-Kettering Institute. Additionally, Dr Agus was honored with a CaP CURE Young Investigator Award, the American Society of Clinical Oncology Fellowship Award and the Health Network Foundation’s Excellence Award. In 2009, he was also selected to serve as a judge for the first Biotech Humanitarian Award.

Furthermore, he was also the physician to Johnny Ramone during his battle with prostate cancer and other prominent individuals. Agus has also hosted a public health conversation with some of the renowned individuals like Bill Clinton, Joe Biden, and Albert Bourla, CEO of Pfizer. Dr. Agus was on the board of directors of the Biden Cancer Initiative until it was closed when Joe Biden ran for president. He is also on the Board of Directors of DeImageneAI, Project Ronin, Sensei Ag, Sensei, the National Library of Israel, Thrive Global and the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation.
