Dave Malkoff Biography
Dave Malkoff is a multiple award winning journalist currently working as a national correspondent based in Atlanta, Georgia with the CBS Innovation Lab, where his work appears across all CBS News and Station platforms. He joined the network in October 2023.
Dave Malkoff Career
Malkoff joined CBS News in October 2023 and has covered some of the biggest global stories and natural disasters of our time. In addition, he has interviewed world leaders, covered the California wildfires and reported from the Arctic to investigate the consequences of melting glaciers on U.S. sea levels. Malkoff has also ventured into secure spaceship factories where scientists were building the Webb Space Telescope, The SpaceX Dragon and GPS II-F satellites before their launches. Furthermore, he has also reported from the remote jungles of Sri Lanka, documenting the development and testing of a groundbreaking, life-saving kind of snake antivenom.
Malkoff has been a recipient of six Emmy® Awards for his reporting and multiple Emmy nominations.
Prior to joining CBS News, he worked as the chief environmental correspondent and host of The Weather Channel’s docuseries “Weather Channel Explores.” His reporting on climate change has taken him to 13 countries spanning four continents.
Previously in his career, Malkoff worked for CBS Los Angeles, California where he covered breaking news and features, including the global financial crisis of 2008 and the death of Michael Jackson in 2009. Moreover, he was the station’s only reporter inside Jackson’s memorial service. Before CBS Los Angeles, he also worked at CBS Miami, covering South Florida, the Caribbean and the Southeast U.S.

Earlier on, he reported for KTLA-TV in Los Angeles, earning an Emmy® Award for his Iraq War coverage. Malkoff has also worked as a reporter for KRON-TV in San Francisco, KTNV-TV in Las Vegas and WICD-TV in Champaign, Illinois.
He was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio and got his start in broadcasting by running a low power radio station in his Liberty Township basement. In addition, Malkoff also built and ran the television station for Liberty High School prior to moving onto commercial radio and television.
