Caitlin Roth Biography
Caitlin Roth is an American Meteorological Society (AMS) certified meteorologist currently working at FOX 5 DC. She joined the station in May 2015.

Caitlin Roth Career
In her current role at Fox 5 WTTG-TV, Roth is responsible for forecasting, producing and broadcasting weather live on Fox 5 DC, Fox 5 Plus, and Fox5DC.com for weekday afternoon and evening broadcasts. She has also served as a traffic reporter, general assignment reporter and/or co-host over the course of her nine years at Fox 5.
If weather is severe enough continuous coverage is expected, sometimes hours at a time, where Roth has had to clearly and urgently convey life saving information. In addition, she was a key member in the successful launch of the 4pm newscast in 2019. Her role requires not just providing the forecast, but frequently assisting in news and lifestyle content that helps drive consistently high ratings during the one hour time slot. She is also a participant in many community based organizations, non-profits and schools through Fox 5 DC and the greater DC area.
Furthermore, Roth was an adjunct professor at American University in Washington DC for over two years. For three summers in a row (2016, 2017, 2018) she taught a pre-college internship program through American University’s Discover the World of Communication. Roth taught the science of weather and the basics of television to a select group of students interested in broadcast meteorology.
Caitlin Roth FOX 5 DC
Prior to joining FOX 5 DC, she spent over three years in Fox 29 Philadelphia, WTXF as a meteorologist. Roth was tasked with managing daily weather forecasting, graphical content creation, and live broadcasting. Furthermore, one of her key duties was to oversee social media updates and interactions through individual and station digital platforms. During this job, she broadcasted live for major snow and severe weather events, most notably Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Additionally, in 2014 she helped create a brand new weekend morning show as a weather broadcaster and co-anchor which included news, entertainment and lifestyle interviews.
Before FOX 29, Roth worked for almost four years at WOWT-TV in Omaha, Nebraska as a meteorologist. She forecasted daily weather, created graphical content and broadcasted live on air and on the radio. Roth also had live experiences with major snow and severe weather events. Furthermore, she created weekly content for local lifestyle events- wrote, edited and streamed these packages for newscasts and digital. Roth anchored and co-anchored newscasts as needed, on both weekly midday and morning shows.
She was born and raised in the Philadelphia suburbs. Roth graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology from Penn State University in 2008. In school, she worked as a meteorologist at Accuweather Inc in State College, Pennsylvania for over a year. She broadcasted national & international forecasts on air and for radio partners through a digital platform.
In her spare time, you’ll catch Roth learning everything there is to know about D.C., Virginia and Maryland from the roads to the sports teams. She loves to be outdoors and tries to be active as possible, from hiking and running to traveling especially to any area’s hidden gems.
