Bob Redell Biography
Bob Redell is an Emmy award winning journalist currently working as a reporter for NBC Bay Area’s morning news program, Today In the Bay. He joined the station in May 2000. NBC Bay area celebrated 20 years of Bob Redell in 2020.

Redell’s reports vary from coverage of breaking news to features. His quirky, engaging style has led NBC stations across the country to pick up his stories. And his work regularly airs on NBC California Nonstop in the Bay Area, Los Angeles and San Diego.
He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications & Japanese Major, Business Minor and Concentration in Russian Politics from Indiana University, Bloomington.
Redell began his career in journalism at WFTX FOX 4, Fort Meyers, Florida as a feature reporter for four years. He then moved to WJXX TV, Jacksonville, Florida as a feature reporter too for three years before finally heading out west. (a few years after Bobby Knight threw the chair) to become the feature reporter in Fort Myers, Fla. He then moved on to Jacksonville before eventually heading out west.
Redell has been a recipient of seven Emmy Awards since he joined NBC Bay Area as a reporter in 2000. He resides in Livermore, California with his family. In addition, Redell is a devoted family man and friend, animal lover, recreational indoor soccer player, loves books and storytelling and a diorama hobbyist.
