Stafford is an award winning journalist who is currently part of the NBC 7 News Team as a morning reporter and fill-in anchor.
Audra Stafford Career
Stafford was bitten by the entertainment bug at a very young age. She started dancing when she was 2 1/2 years old, singing when she was 7 or 8, and was absolutely convinced she wanted to be an entertainment reporter by her sophomore year of high school.
Stafford has been covering the news in San Diego County for more than twenty years as a television news writer, producer and reporter too. In addition, she has also spent numerous years as a correspondent for the syndicated lifestyle show California Life for BroadwayWorld.com. Stafford is the host of Broadway/San Diego’s annual Season Preview Tv special.
As the entertainment reporter for San Diego’s ABC affiliate, Stafford covered star-studded events such as the Academy Awards. And also Daytime Emmy Awards, opening of Disneyland’s Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage ride and Dancing With the Stars. She is also one of only two journalists in the nation to be in a production of CATS during its national tour.

She has interviewed many of the entertainment industry’s finest actors, directors, producers and musicians throughout her career. Such as Tom Cruise, Robin Williams, Jon Voight, Helen Mirren, George Lopez, Teri Hatcher, Dakota Fanning, George Takei, Jerry Bruckheimer, Idina Menzel, Frankie Valli and Henry Selick. Stafford has also interviewed Tony Award winners Lin-Manuel Miranda, Lea Salonga, Casey Nicholaw and Steven Sater and also Broadway producers Scott Sanders and Tom Hulce.
Stafford is the recipient of seven Emmy Awards from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Pacific Southwest Chapter. In addition, she also received two Student Emmys while at the University. Stafford graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Television, Film and New Media Production from San Diego State University. She is a member of The Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and San Diego State University (SDSU) Alumni Association (Go Aztecs!).
When she is not at work, Stafford loves spending time with her husband, fellow NBC 7 reporter Joe Little, and her two amazing step sons. She also enjoys going to the theatre, the beach and exploring everything San Diego has to offer.
