Anthony Carpino Biography
Anthony Carpino is an award winning journalist currently working as the weekday meteorologist on NBC Connecticut News at 11 am. He joined the StormTracker Weather Team in July 2023.
Anthony Carpino Career
Prior to joining NBC Connecticut, Carpino was a meteorologist at WRDW/WAGT in Augusta, Georgia. There, he covered several tornado outbreaks, including a couple of EF-3 twisters. Carpino and the Chief Meteorologist at WRDW/WAGT won a Southeastern Regional Emmy for their 2022 coverage of the tornadoes.
Carpino says “I’ve worn many different hats during my 3 years in Augusta, Georgia. He started as the weekend morning meteorologist and multi media journalist, moved up to the weekend evening show, and then became the weekday evening meteorologist for the ‘first at 4’ hour newscast,” he posted on LinkedIn. “When it comes to severe weather, Carpino has been responsible for keeping the public safe on TV, social media, and posting the latest information to our weather app. In addition, he has covered 2 tornado outbreaks and has reported on damage from several large tornados.”
He replaced NBC Connecticut’s former meteorologist, Josh Cingarnelli who left the news station earlier this year after six years to take a job at the Connecticut Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security.

Carpino was an intern in the weather department at West Hartford-based NBC Connecticut for three months in 2018 according to his LinkedIn page. Next he spent a year and a half in Vermont as a meteorologist for News7 in Lyndonville, Vermont. Furthermore, in September 2019, he moved down South and into his new gig in Augusta, where he had been forecasting the weather for close to four years before joining NBC Connecticut.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree (BS) Atmospheric Science from Lyndon State College, Vermont in 2019. In addition, Carpino also pursued an Associate in Science degree (AS) Electronic Arts Journalism during the same period in Lyndon State College, Vermont.
Carpino is a recipient of a regional and national Edward R. Murrow Award for “Excellence in Innovation” for his augmented reality graphics and contributions to investigative stories and election coverage.
The Georgia Association of Broadcasters named his crew at News7 in Lyndonville, Vermont the “Best Weather Team” in October 2022. In September 2022, he won a Southeast Emmy for his work reporting on an outbreak of tornadoes earlier that year.
He was born and raised in New England and is thrilled to be back home. He is currently living in Manchester with his dog Storm.
