Alex Forbes Biography
Alex Forbes is an American Meteorological Society ( AMS) Certified Broadcast Meteorologist with the FOX 5 Storm Team. He joined the station in June 2024 though he had interned in the station in 2019 when he was in college.
Alex Forbes Career
Forbes was born and raised in Forsyth County, Georgia graduating from South Forsyth High School. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geosciences with a concentration in Professional Meteorology from Mississippi State University in 2021.
Prior to joining FOX 5 Atlanta, Forbes worked as a morning and weekend meteorologist at WMAZ-TV in Macon, Georgia for three years. During his time in Macon, he covered numerous severe weather events, tornado outbreaks, and the ever-changing weather patterns that the Peach State faces.
In 2017 during college, Forbes worked as a Congressional Aide in the U.S House of Representatives in Atlanta, Georgia and Washington D.C. He got his internship in FOX 5 storm team in 2019 and experienced Hurricane Laura in Louisiana and Hurricane Matthew in the Florida panhandle.
Forbes is an active member of the National Weather Association and American Meteorological Society (AMS). AMS is the organization that awarded the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation following the passing of a rigorous test and a review of weathercasts.
He first became interested in weather in elementary school and has had some notable experiences in the field of meteorology. In addition, Forbes has been the eye of a major hurricane and yes, he was in Atlanta for the meltdown that happened when it snowed in 2014.
In his spare time, he is an avid news connoisseur, a drone pilot, and a die-hard college football fan.
